Our spiritual preparation for the crowning of the Blessed Mother mosaic in the House Chapel takes place during this summer between Covenant Sunday, June 20, 2021 and Covenant Sunday, August 22, 2021. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the crowning of this image as Queen of Unity, the Schoenstatt Family in the Wisconsin and Illinois area is invited to recrown Mary. With this crown we want to ask the MTA to intercede the gift of unity for our families, our Schoenstatt Family, the Church, and world. In particular, we ask that she obtains for each of her children the grace to live in deep union with God.

The title, Queen of Unity, was influenced by the words from Father Kentenich’s Christmas letter of 1965. In his Christmas letter, our father and founder pointed to the way in which we, as Schoenstatt Family of the USA, are called to live the covenant of love in all its dimensions to a high degree in our relationship to God, but also in our relationship to one another.

Today we take it as a matter of course that we all have grown into an indescribable community of destinies, community of tasks, and community of hearts, the like of which can probably not be found anywhere else … We are approaching an ideal which the Church of the future will naturally feel urged to reach out for and that then the Church may rightly apply the praise to itself: See, how they love one another (Fr. Kentenich, Christmas Letter, 1965).

During the next nine weeks, we pray, reflect, and focus on essential elements of unity, guided by words of Father Kentenich from 1951.

We also unite in praying for all the Bishops of the United States, as requested in the Statement of Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops
